We obviously cannot predict exactly what MCU movies are going to get announced for 2025. Marvel Studios is famously tight-lipped about its plans, and they frequently spring new projects on fans. As for the direction of the MCU, and considering some characters who have not had a chance to star in their solo outings yet—we present 5 potential MCU movies that could be announced through end up on our screens by 2025:
Nova — We have no past connection to the Nova character as it has yet to be introduced in regards of MCU. However, the character still has a lot of promise to someday enter this universe.
For the uninitiated, here’s a brief overview of Nova from Marvel Comics: Origins Richard Rider
The first and most famous — sorry, Sam! Inheriting the powers of Nova Force, which provides him with super human strength, speed and flight as well as energy blasts among other abilities.
Made a hero: Even though Rider faced many challenges and threats as Nova, fighting against villains like the Annihilus or cosmic entities knowed such as Celestials.
Ironheart:
Riri Williams (Ironheart) — She is a brand new character to the MCU who made her debut in 2023 with Disney+ series “Ironheart.” Into the Iron-Verse: A Complete Riri Williams/Ironheart MCU History
First Appearance: Riri Williams makes her debut in the MCU in Disney+ series “Ironheart” (2023)
Background:
A gifted young inventor from Chicago who reverse-engineers a suit of Iron Man armor and turns it into her own weaponized shrine to Tony Stark’s legacy.
The show follows her journey into mastering the craft and inheritance of being a hero.
Connections:
Tony Stark: Although rooted in Tony Stark, Ririidas is an entirely independent. From the series, she has access to Stark Industries and even some of Tony’s tech in her suit.
Wakanda: Riri is familiar with the people of Wakanda, through her involvement in a special project there that allows them to cross realities and Rayshaun (Shuri), who stole their fancy tech;
Other MCU Characters: Some of Riri’s connections are still in development, though the show teased some potential meetings with other heroes.
Future:
We have a feeling Riri will also play an important role in future MCU outputs.
She will next be seen in the anti-hero team movie “Thunderbolt.”
What this means for her future beyond that remains to be seen, but she could have a big role in the MCU’s cosmic tales.
Shang-Chi 2 – Shang-Chi has no established MCU backstory as of now, The original “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” movie landed in 2021 to great acclaim. Yet, no word has come forth about a direct sequel to that movie. Here’s what we know so far:
Introduction of Shang-Chi: 2021 saw the release of the first film, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”.
Critical Reception: The film was lauded for its depiction of action sequences, martial arts choreography and Simu Liu’s performance as Shang-Chi.
Potential Future: Though a sequel to “Shang-Chi” has not been officially announced, the film was released into theaters and fans are clamoring.
Future Storylines: How a sequel could…
Dive deeper into the creation of Ten Rings
Flesh out the relationship with Shang-Chi and his sister Xialing.
Expand on Shang-Chi’s cosmic connections, such as the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Discuss… with the way he fights and his lineage, does Shang-Chi off enough to lead The Avengers?
Shang-Chi is likely to feature within new MCU projects, but if there’s a sequel remains unknown. Marvel Studios has many plates spinning in the air, so you can bet that Shang-Chi will have a future of some sort.
Echo: Echo has a short, yet impressive track record in the MCU. What we know: Debut Echo, whose real name is Maya Lopez Source — Disney+/Marvel’s “Hawkeye” (2021) ” Hearing Impaired: ** Maya is a deaf Native American woman who has an eidetic memory and the ability to copy everything she sees done, as well it’s movements.
Hawkeye is responsible for Maya’s father death as far she knows, and thus becomes an assassin proficient enough to don the mantle of Ronin.
Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) * The series teased at Hawkeye’s and Maya relationship, ultimately ending the season with a potential face-off. Ties: Kingpin (* Maya is out for blood after it’s revealed that her father was killed by none other than Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin) Hawkeye: * A somewhat rich development since the series built a messy picture that could lead to forgiveness down the road.
The Eternals 2: Eternals 2 has no official MCU history at the moment because “The Eternals” (2021) was the first movie that added these characters to this universe. There is no announced sequel yet, but the ending of the first movie set up several possible next chapters. Here’s what we know:
INTRODUCED IN “ETERNALS” (2021): The first film was released in 2021, focusing on an entirely new team of cosmic beings with a lengthy and convoluted history.
The film ends with Eternals making everyone believe they are humans, hence all the followings open threads:
Others of the Eternals left Earth.
There was still thousands of Deviants just waiting to be let loose.
With the entire world in shock from the appearance of The Celestials, who are basically space gods turned up to 11.
Resolution or Future Storylines
The Celestials: Should a sequel happen, it could further expound on the motivations of the celestial beings within this universe.
Return of the Deviants: In a future film, an even larger obstacle threatens and unites failing members for one last mission
Re-Union of the Eternals: The now separated Eternals can re-unite in order to confront a common threat, or maybe even try to understand what is the Celestials’ intention.
New Characters: A follow-up could also bring new Eternals into the mix, allowing for a deeper dive into the mythos of these cosmic entities.
The Future of the Eternals:
While Eternals 2 has yet to be announced, the film clearly set up many unanswered questions and a plethora of future narratives that could easily be explored in sequels. The characters may live on in other MCU projects or down the line replace with a sequel. Now we just have to sit back and wait for Marvel to lay out its plans with the Eternals!
